Druidical Temple Supposed Remains of Druidical Temple James Nelson (Dubton) 023.15 "It is also to be observed there were 4 Druidical temples here, one at Hospital Shiells, another on the farm of Balmakellie, a third on the farm of Dykelands, and at no great distance from the Deer Dyke, that in ancient times Separated this parish from Garvock when (as tradition says) it was a forest, and a fourth near the house of Hatton, at a little distance from the public road, but as the stones of all these are removed, and taken away for building houses, there appears very few vestiges of them now." (Old Stat Act [Statistical Account] Vol. [Volume] 18. P. [Page] 633)
"The object shewn on the Trace is supposed to be the remains of the Temple referred to in Old Stat Act [Statistical Account] it is situated near the House of Hatton, and is called by the Old * * people in the neighbourhood the Catholic Chapel, it is the only object in the neighbourhood having any appearance of Druidical remains, it is nearly Circular and has evidently been Composed of a mass of loose stones.
