003.16 A beautiful stone building erected in 1829. The Estate of Blairs was bestowed as a free and voluntary gift to the R.C. [Roman Catholic] Bishops & Clergy of Scotland, by the late and only member of the family of Menzies of Pitfoddles in 1827, in whose possession it remained since 1535. The College, with R.C. [Roman Catholic] Chapel, farm steading &c. were erected from the proceeds of the Estate, and Subscriptions from various parts. The College is principally intended for the education of students intended for the Priesthood, but in some cases the education is general, and although many privileges are allowed to Roman Catholic Students, and in Some cases they get their education free, yet, others are admitted to a general education; there are at present about 50 Students residing at this College, which is conducted by a President, a Procurator, and three Professors, who must always be Priests.

003.16 A good Stone building erected in 1829 as a Roman catholic Chapel, principally for the use of the College but the public are admitted to it the Chapel will accommodate about 300 persons.
The Revd. [Reverend] Andrew Fleming states that this is a bona fide place erected for Public Worship, and Should the College be removed the Bishops are bound by the Title Deeds of the Estate to keep this Chapel &c. in good repair.
