Sites of, these have been very numerous, and in most cases retain their respective didicatory names - although very little more is known about them, The ruins of three old Castles are to be seen, one, at, or near the district of "Howmore", Situated on a little island in a fresh water loch, another at "Ormiglade which appears a half modern sort of building, another in an island in "Loch Boisdale", The "Duns", or Danish forts, are very numerous, and are almost invariably situated near the Centre of fresh water lochs on little islands, "Barps", four of these are all that are now to be seen one of them is situated on an arm of "Loch Boisdale", two more, a little eastwards of the farm of "Milton", and the fourth a little to the N. East of "Howmore School", "Underground houses", or Subterranean passages, one, only, of these Could be pointed out, it is situated in a place called Bealach a' Chaolais 3 miles north of "L. Boisdale", "Standing Stones", a few of these are also to be seen, The entire island is the property of J. Gordon, Esquire, Cluny Castle, Aberdeenshire,
