012 This name is applied to a small hamlet of very miserable looking huts, some of which are almost underground. There is one farm house only which is one storey thatched but far superior to the other houses, which are occupied by cotters, which manage to make at living by fishing, as they are not allowed to graze cattle or sheep on the island.
There are 70 persons living on the island.
SCHOOL [Paible] School John McKinnon 012 This school is at present closed and it appears to be only a temporary one, however when it is open there is an average attendance of 40 children, who are taught the ordinary branches of the English language. It is supported by the Free Church, is a miserable dark hovel and situate in the above hamlet, on the island of Taransay.
