004 | An irregular block of stone, lying at the base of an oak tree in Culloden Wood, which is said to have been a favourite resting place of the former Lord President Forbes, who aided so much in crushing the Rebellion of 174[5] It is at present surrounded by a birch wood which obstructs what would otherwise be a fine view. A stream runs close to this, over which has fallen a remarkable pine tree, the side branches of which have grown up like separate trees. Property of Arthur Forbes Esq. of Culloden. |
