This name applies to a natural hollow space in a field on the Farm of Auchmithie, and West from the Camp or Fort called Lud Castle. It is somewhat Elliptical in shape and has the appearance of an Old Quarry The Southern end is of Considerable depth, Somewhat Circular in shape, and is approached by the Tide at High Water through a Cave or Natural Tunnel, from the Sea; its Northern end is not so deep and is Overgrown with Rough pasture. The sides all around are precipitous, and at its Southern end almost Perpendicular. |
