A considerable hill feature, situated about half-a-mile N. [North] West from Bro: [Broughty] Castle, was fortified by the English in 1548, as a flanking post of their principal garrison. No traces of the fortification now remain. A deep draw well was discovered at the top of the hill a few years ago, at the bottom of which was several bullets, pieces of cannon, &c.
