019 The portion of the outer intrenchment which lies within the plantation, is composed of a double rampart still plain to be seen, outside of the wood on the Northwest it is for the most part a flattish embankment surrounded by a narrow ditch, and at the North end, outside of the Fort, is a portion of rampart in excellent preservation, Surrounding the great rampart of stones is an earthen embankment and within it a ditch, Though the great mass of stones are now much disarranged yet their order can still be plainly seen, Inside the Fort is a beautiful grassy flat dotted with a few tufts of heather, Inside is a nearly rectangular figure, nearly flat with the ground, and the well, still some
