part of the ridge as it falls to the north is about the fence bounding the south side of the wood but the name has been applied farther towards the north between the extent of the top running east & west. The Back or south of the hill of Bonnyton is even with the ground on this side Bonnyton Hill is but a part of the great feature above Montrose Basin, extending from Fithie in the west, in Farnell Parish to "the Ness" Point at the mouth of the Harbour of Montrose. "The Ness" is in Craig Parish Several dwellings, occupied by cotters, on the top or back of the Hill are understood to be under the name of "Bonnyton Hill"
