Samuel Kidd, Mains of Easter Meathie
044 [Situation] In the north end of the parish
The site of a small Church on the farm of Mains of Easter Meathie the property of John Watt Esq: residing at St. Andrews, there are no records or traditions in the locality bearing upon its antiquity. Previous to 1682 the Parish of Meathie was annexed to Inverarity and the Revd. [Reverend] George Loudon is of opinion that it was dismantled before that period - there is no right of way to it. The extent of the old Church is easily traced being indicated by a slight elevated bank formed evidently by debris of the walls. See slight shading on Trace. There was a grave yard around the Church, but it has not been used for several generations past.
See Extracts annexed.
