Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Bell. Ph. [Parish] Minister Mr. Mitchel Hillhead Oliver & Boyd's Almanac 1858 |
045 | [Situation] In the western portion of the parish This market about 60 years ago was held on a moor west of the farm house of Hillhead. Mr. Mitchel of Hillhead pointed the site out to me having got the information from his father, who is dead. The words on trace are written at the spot where the market was generally held, though it often covered a large surface and was not always held on the same place. It was removed, a great many years ago, to another parish further north, where it is now held, and retains the old name. |
