The ruins of an ancient castle, situated at the farm house of Pitcruvie, supposed to have been the residence of a branch of the family of Lindsay who obtained a charter of the lands of Pitcruvie and others in 1498. ( bide Leighton's His; [History] of Fife) It has been a plain and substantially built edifice & evidently covered a much larger extent than shown in the existing remains, a portion of the outer walls being all that now remains of it. The date of its erection is unknown.
