It contains a U.P. [United Presbyterian] Church two public houses and a school &c. This village is the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk (Robinson Crusoe) and the house in which he was born is still pointed out. A descendant of one of his brothers is in possession of his gun sea-chest and drinking-cup which he had with him on the island. |
