011 | [situation] About 1/2 mile South from Dura Den. Pitscottie is a small village consisting of about 12 houses. It is situated on the turnpike road from St. Andrews to Ceres, being 6 miles from the former and 2 from the latter place. In the village is an Inn called Pitscottie Inn, and at the E. [East] entrance is Pitscottie Toll Bar. There is also a grocers shop in the village. The houses, all of one story high, are generally the property of the occupiers, being built upon ground feued from Sir Archibald Hope Bart. [Baronet] Craighall. Gardens are attached to all the houses. |
