This name applies to that part of the Highway passing thro' Devon Common, extending from the Bridge near Milldean Sawmill Eastwards to the Crossroads where the Road turns towards Kennoway. It is so called from a family named Porter having resided here for many generations, the present Smith's Ancestors. -
