A large establishment for making gas for lighting the town of Cupar at the N.W. [North West] end of Burnside. It is the property of a private company chiefly composed of Merchants and Manufacturers resident in Cupar and its vicinity.

A considerable mound seemingly artificial, situated between Lady Burn and Bonnygate it is bounded on the North and east by Lady Burn and on the South by a stone wall which encloses the gardens attached to the houses on the North side of Bonnygate: it is a common belonging to the town, and is used for bleaching linen. there is a walk running along the top of it which is a favourite promenade, and much frequented during the Summer evenings.
