006 The principal Village in the parish. Situated on the north bank of the river Tyne and about half way between Haddington and Dunbar. It chiefly Consists of dwelling houses, and a considerable number of Shops and public houses There are also some flower and Corn mills on the river below the Bridge - there are two places of worship in the Village viz. a "Free Church", and a U.P. [United Presbyterian] Church. Also the Ph. [Parish] and Free Church Schools besides a female and two private Schools. The N.B. [North British] Railway passes Close to the Village.
