006 In 1766. The WorKmen when digging a foundation for a Reservoir discovered several Roman Medals with the inscription "Indea Captiva" when it was Conjectured to be the site of this Friary.

006 This Religious foundation or Hospital was founded in the Eleventh or Twelth Century but by whom there is no authentic testimony. The remains of it were cleared away about the year 1728 for the purpose of forming A Bowling green which has since been Changed into gardens, yards, &c belonging to Viewfield and Ashfield Houses with the Free Church & School. This Hospital was erected either for receiving strangers or maintaining Poor or Sickly people.
