WAUGHTON CASTLE (Remain of) Castle (in Ruins) 005 Within a few perches of this house on its South Side, Stand part of the remains of an Old Castle, of the date of its erection nothing is Known It is said to have belonged to the Hepburn Family and had been at one tome surrounded by, seemingly a deep ditch part of which Still remains to be seen The Castle was built on a Small Rocky eminence and nothing of it now remains save a Small Portion of its South end. There is a large Yew Tree within a few yards of the Cale on its West side, from which it is said the Hepburn Family have taKen their Coat of Arms It is the property of George W. Hope Esqr. Luffness
