025 | This is the old Burying Ground of the Parish which was used at the time that KirKintilloch & Cumbernauld were in one Parish under the name of "Lenzie". There is a gateway to the entrance of it having a couple of little houses at the sides, and a Slated roof over the gate, on which there is an old fashioned but modern belfry. The Ancient Church of "St. Ninian" is said to have stood near this but the site cannot be pointed out. The "Old AiSle" is the property of the Heritors of the Parish. |

"The ancient church of Kirkintilloch stood
on the west end of this parish, near a place
which has perhaps derived its name of
Oxgang from the grant to the church by
William Camin, and not far from the junction
of the Bathlaw Burn with the Luggie. It was
dedicated to St. Ninian, and its ruins are still
seen in the old cemetery."
