even as to their precise Site, consequently they have been noticed at the respective localities on the Plans._ That reported at Old Walls may have been mistaken for the remains of an old chapel, the site of which - the present proprietor of the ground Mr. Stewart is enabled to point out from the tenor of his Title Deeds and which he likewise states was dedicated to St. Michael ._ Authorities however notice merely three distinct chapels at Quass, at Beckton and at an extinct hamlet called Little Hutton _ The site of the first cannot be pointed out - that of the second is shewn (see Page 48) - the remains of the other, - generally denominated Little Hutton Chapel - are yet extant forming now nearly the entire walls of a stable (see Page 56) - The Ancient Church of Dryfesdale was dedicated to St. Cuthbert but any information cannot be obtained in the locale as to its site._ The Site of a more recent Parish Church has been shewn (see Page 40)
