022 A large, deep pool in the river Thurso, immediatly below Dirlot Castle. Local Tradition says, there is a Kettle of Gold at the bottom of this pool, they also Say, which some of the old people seem to believe, that parties who have tried to get it up, were prevented by the Devil, who is said to keep watch over it. It is therefore, sometimes called the Devil's Pool, but is best known by the Kettle pool or Pool a Choire.
