The "Georgemas Fair was formerly held on the top of this hill; *besides, it was a great military station, or common place of rendevous in Caithness of Old, and it was here that "Comes Magbragdus" - a Scots nobleman - assembled a great army to attack Liotus in "Paludes Scidensibus"; i.e. extensive tracts of plain mossy ground in the vicinity, - and to the South - of this hill.
