203.08 A remarkable prominent rock near the sea coast of the farm of Upper Ardroscadale. It is of an oval shape and tabulated, on the east end of it is the remains of a dry stone built wall, what the people believe to the remains of a castle or watch tower. "On the farm of Ballancrach, or Upper Ardroscadale, are the remains of an ancient Hill fort. It is situated on the top of a rock, projecting from a precipitous bank towards the sea. The walls of which only the foundation remain, are of dry stone"

or some sort of defensible building, placed
upon a mass of isolated rock almost
inviting such a stronghold from its remarkable
capacity for defence.
