203.08 A prominent rock on the sea coast of farm of Upper Ardroscadale and situated at the southern extremity of the "Etterick Bay"
CIRCLE [Upper Ardroscadale] Tumulus The Rev [Reverend] Alexander McBride Port Bannatyne 203.08 A vallum or bank of earth which is evidently an ancient work of art. The west & N.W. [North West] sides are naturally defended.
The inhabitants of the locality know nothing about it farther than its there to be seen But the Rev [Reverend] Alexander McBride is of the opinion that it is a tumulus, he has opened works of the same description & found them to contain human remains. This is in all likelihood one of those traces of Druidical remains spoken of in the New Stat Acct. [Statistical Account] See extract for the Druid's Temple on trace 3 of 203-4. Or otherwise it may be the remains of a small hill fort as it is situated in a tolerably commanding position not far from the sea.
