009.01 This is said to have been a Castle, but is now always called tower of DesKford. A very small portion of the ruin now remains. In "The Orchard" near to the Church the remains of a Kind of breastworK wall is still to be seen forming a right Angle. The Old Statistical Account in speaKing of the Church States that
"close by it is an old Castle called the Tower of DesKford and said to have been built by the Sinclairs who were the immediate predecessors of the Ogilvies in the property of the lordship of DesKford. It appears to have been a pretty spacious building in the form of a Court; but [continued on page 54]
