039 Slateford is a little hamlet on the Ayr and Maybole Old Road. It consists of two rows of one Storey thatched houses, one on each side of the road. There is a Smithy at it and there was a Public house at it until within a Year or so when the licence were given up.

039 A recently built Stone bridge on the Ayr and Maybole Old Road, over a little Stream - previous to the erection of the bridge there was a ford - but no information can be obtained why it was called 'Slateford' - Built and kept up by the Road Trustees. -
