Kilmaurs Parish -- [Left Side of page] Sir

[Right hand side of page]
Kilmarnock Colliery. The extent of
this name renders it quite inapplicable
to Maps and it might be extended to
Embrace even more Coal fields. The
names Thornton Colliery, Gatehead Colliery,
and Annandale Colliery, will however be
written, and Mr Morgan must See the
manager and mark on the traces the
limits within which these names should
be Severally written, as well as the
extent of Plan Colliery -- [Left side of page ] Done as ordered

Alluding to the Stone Coffins found upon
the Carmyle or Waterpark farm - Paterson's
History of Ayrshire Says "These graves
have been found within the limits of one
of three large barrows or tumuli, Situated
on either bank of the Carmel Water; the
tumulus to which they pertain being, as
already Stated upon Waterpark farm, and the
others being Situated upon Greenhill farm".

[Left hand side of page]

1 The plan when the
coffins were found was
one of the 3 barrows or
Tumuli referred to
2 The Site of the other was
pointed out by the Occupier
of Greenhill farm
[RHS]
The most remarkable of the three being situated close to Greenhill farm house. -- [LHS] 3 Yes

[Right hand side of page]
This still leaves one large tumulus -- [LHS] Site identified
unaccounted for on the Greenhill farm.
The occupier of that farm showed me
a place where he Supposed there might
have been a small tumulus and John Fulton
described to me the same spot where he
Said there had been a small one -
but the above quotation infers another
large tumulus on the Greenhill farm
