013 | This Monument is of Cut Stone about two feet square at Base and about eight feet in height. on it is thee following inscription. In Memory of Revd. [Reverend] William Guthrie First Minister of this Parish, and Author of the Christian's great Interest. Born 1620 ordained 1644 ejected by Prelatic Persecution 1664. worn out by labours and Suffering he died 1665 and was interred in the Chapel at Brechin. His active and self denied ministry thro the divine Blessing produced a deep and lasting impression. This Stone is erected 1854 as a token of gratitude by the Christian Public. With heavenly weapons I have fought The battle of the Lord. Finished my course and kept the Faith Depending on his words. |
