Sir
I have made enquiry respecting
the "Burying Ground and Pathway"
mentioned in Patersons History
of Ayr. but have not obtained
any satisfactory information
respecting them. The Revd. [Reverend]
William Gebbie recommended me to apply
to George Howie (an old man
residing in Dunlop village) but
he had never heard of any Burying
Ground being near the Chapel; but
said that near it there was a
sort of path by which the summit
of the rocks could be reached.
I made a survey of the place a trace
of which is enclosed.
At C there is a hollow place in
the rocks, by which a kind of shelf
or terrace is reached, this leads
upwards & in some places from
Capt. [Captain] Bayley R.E. [Royal Engineers]
