008 | At this place there formerly stood a Chapel supposed to have been dedicated to the Virgin Mary but of this there appears to be no great certainty, and I have been informed by the Revd. [Reverend] William Gebbie. Dunlop. that there is no tradition respecting it, which can be relied on. No vestige of it now remains, the ruins having been entirely removed about 25 or 30 years ago, & the ground cultivated. |

"still to be Seen". Chalmers Caledonia 3rd Vol. [Volume] Page 556
At a place called the Chapel Craigs, about a mile from the
Village of Dunlop, there existed until lately the ruins
of a Chapel, which was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, It is not known whether
this was the parish Church before the Reformation, or a Chapel distinct from it."
