"The Gaelic word Fitheach is meant. It is pronounced Fe- ách,
signifies, a raven and is applied to many streams in Scotland
from the circumstance that flocks of ravens are attracted to particular
parts of such streams by the carcasses of drowned sheep.
Not withstanding the numerous and respectable authorities who
appear on this sheet in favour of Feoch, the word, I think,
should be adopted in its purity. (Fitheach*), or written Feach
as pronounced.
