067 [Situation] About 40 Chains South West of Barrhill Village
This a well built farm house one Story high, Slated, and well laid out, with good out offices etc for farming purposes, beautifully Situated on the Side of a Sloping hill; it takes its name from a Cairn Situated adjacent, there is no vestige of the Cairn to be Seen now, but the place where it was is pointed out, there has been found an earthen Urn containing Ashes and bones in it, at the time the field in which it stood was first cultivated, Some twenty five years ago, Attached to this House is a large extent of moor which in general affords good pasturing for Sheep in the Sumer Season, the whole of the farm goes under the name of Cairnlee
It is the property of the Trustees of the late Sir William Fettes
