016 The only memorial or trace of this church is the Tombstone of the Minister the Revd [Reverend] Thomas Clarke he was buried within the precincts of the church under the Session Table
Inscription on Tombstone Mr Thomas Clarke is buried here who was Minister of the Gospel in Ardrossan from April 1691 to November 20 1739. This Small monument erected for him after the translation of the church from this place to Saltcoats in the year 1744

"The original church stood on the Castle hill
"of Ardrossan, but was blown away by
" a violent storm of wind in the year
"1691, when another was built about
"½ mile more inland, and in a more
"Sheltered Situation. About the year 1744
" this church was taken down and removed
"to Saltcoats, where the present one now

"Of this edifice, which was taken down in 1744, there remains not a vestige. The plough during the lapse
" of a century frequently passed over its foundations, as well as over every grave that Slept in the [Shaddow ?]
"of its place, not sparing over that of the clergyman who officiated here a fragment of whose tombstone
"now forms past of an adjoining fence; and one of the name of Clarke his office and the dates [1739 ?]
