015 A storm tower erected by the Earl of Eglinton near the high water mark on Horse Isle, which is very useful as a Landmark or Beacon in the Navigation of this part of the Firth of Clyde.
There is an inscription on the North side of the tower as follows

Erected by the 12th Earl of Eglinton
A D 1816
Suggested by Captain Ross R.N. [Royal Navy]
The tower is a square at the base of about 30 links and is about 30 feet high.
