015 This Island is about ¾ of a mile N.W [North West] from the harbour of Ardrossan. It is nearly ½ a mile long and greatest width about 27 chains, it is partly surrounded by shelving rocks those on the S [South] & West being of the greatest magnitude. The interior of the Island is used in the Summer Season for depasturing cattle being a rough description of rocky pasture.
There is a rude harbour on the North side of the Island which tends to form two small islands not covered at high water. -

Horse Isle is the popular name.
