128 | On the tops of the two northmost of two promonent and precipitous mounds on the island of Dùn Chonnuill are situated what are said to be the ruins of an ancient fort - the three distinct ruins shown on trace being supposed to be that of one original building. The tradition relating to it is, that a Connal MacLachlan, from Ireland, took possession of the Island and fortified it for the purpose of defence, about the 14th century. |
