HUMAN REMAINS FOUND A.D. 1859 [Eileach an Naoimh] Human Remains found A.D. 1859 Mr A. Livingston Garbh Eileach
Mr M. Livingston Garbh Eileach
Miss J. Livingston Garbh Eileach
128 About 18 years ago while Mr Alexander Livingston (father of the three authorities given hereon) then shepherd at Garbh Eileach, was engaged building this sheepfold & clearing away piles of stones, which then stood on the site, he came upon a number of bones and one human skull. From the fact that the bones were scattered by the sheepfold, it is supposed that the Old Burial ground, which is now close to the fold on the S. [South] side, had at one time occupied the ground on which now stands the sheepfold and that the remains discovered were those of persons interned therein.
