044.13 | On the south east of the church is Chapelton where there had been once a Roman Catholic Chapel "The ruins were dug up many years ago". The site of the Chapel can still be distinctly traced upon the ground from the chips of building stones scattered over a slightly elevated piece of ground.The baptismal Fonts are still preserved in the parish but are sadly desecrated one is in use at the farm of Chapelton for holding pigs meal, the other at Smithy of Leslie for holding water for cooling the irons. It is not Known to whom this Chapel was dedicated. Statistical Account |

Site of Chapel - " The font is still to be seen in one
of the buildings of the farmsteading. There
is a tradition that the farmer, who removed
the stones, lost the whole of his Horses & one race of Horses after another,
till he was completely ruined & obliged to give up the lease of
