026 A handsome and commodious building Erected in 1854 and opened in 1855 with garden and office houses attached, in good repair, erected by bequest of the late Dr. [Doctor] Scott, for behoof of aged men and women (Not admitted under 50 years of age). On the 8th of September 1865, fire broke out in the main part of the building, but through the active assistance of the inhabitants of Huntly a good part of the house was saved from damage, all the walls were also kept good, so that the only outward repairs was a new roof. The east and west portions of the building with small aditions on the north Side were erected in 1868 completed in 1869 which makes it nearly double its former Size.
