085 This is the remains of what was previous to 1836 the Parish Church, it wants nothing yet of what it was at that time but the roof the Side walls and gables are Still Standing. the yard around is Still the only burying ground in the parish, there is no record of the date of its erection it was a plain low building not half the size of the present one.
the New Stat [Statistical] Account supposes the Church to be 300 years old.

[Notes beside 'Church (In Ruins)'] - The old Statistical Account Vol [Volume] 3. P. [Page] 316., written in 1792 , states. "The church is so old that no body knows when it was built: It has had frequent repairs
