Complete town and village statistics for 1891 are not yet
available, but I have learned the following populations chiefly
through the kindness of the local registrars:- Stenhousemuir,
3045; Camelon and Lock 16, 3030; Laurieston, 2051; Bonny-
bridge, 1742; Glen, 553; Burn Row, 795; Balquhatson Row and
Arnloss Colliery, 594; Binniehill and Southfield, 1223; Slamannan,
1950; Limerigg and Lochside, 1683.

HOUSE ACCOMMODATION
During the year I have enquired into the character of the house
accommodation in several of the mining and other rows, and espe-
cially at Old Quarrol and Kinnaird. At Old Quarrol the houses
appeared to me unfit for habitation, and a notice under the Housing
of the Working Classes Act has, since the end of the year, been sent
to the owners. Mr. Denholm has issued notices, under section 16
of the Public Health Act, regarding the houses at Kinnaird, and it
it is understood that certain improvements are about to be
carried out in this village. In some other parts of the Dis-
trict - as, for example, in part of the parish of Slamannan - the
walls of many of the houses are damp, owing to bad repair and
to want of rain gutters.
