and 5' to 6' above the general level of the interior
which declines towards the South, and 17' broad
at base. Along the fourth side, that overlooking
the burn, there is now no artificial defense. The
interior is very uneven and has in places probably
been dug out but the area being within a thick wood

difficult to discern. Along the inner side of
the rampart on the N. [North] a plateau some 30' to
40' broad extends from the edge of the bank

of the entrance is obscure but it has probably
been in the W. [West] angle where there is a gap in
the rampart openening into a hollow in the
interior carried forward past the end of
the plateau. Near the centre of the enclosure
there appear to be the foundations of a small
rectangular structure, and over the general
area odd heaps of stone are discernible through
the rank vegetation which covers it.

its W. [West] flank resting on the edge of a steep
