In a fields on the West Side of this hill Stone graves have been met with it is said that formerly a Ch. [Church] and graveyard stood her but no Trace of it can be Seen now. the field has been in Cultivation during the memory of the oldest inhabitant. It is well supplied with Grocers, Drapers, Spirit reatilers etc., in it is a Free Church and a school house (built in the year 1843) the Church affords accommodation for about 500 persons, And the Average attendance of scholars at school is about 70 or 80 (The Parish Church and School are situated about 3/4 of a mile north of the village). has also a good Harbour which admits vessels of considerable burden. It is Situate about 18 miles South of Stranraer, to & from which there is a regular Communication by Carrier.
