NINIAN'S CHURCH St. Ninian's Church (in ruins) (Continued) 034 " and afterwards removed to the place which was his ultimate position, there is an old dismantled Church as it were a land mark, upon the top of one of the hills in the Isle which the people connect with St. Ninian and consider the oldest Church in the Kingdom as it were his Church, it is however much more recent than even the ruined Church of Whithorn, It is a plain oblong Chapel with very thick walls & one narrow pointed window, in each of the sides, with niches, and other recesses usual about the E. [East] end, a lone deserted place without a roof which form its thick walls (see next page)
