Note1:Town House is recommended
by George McHaffie Esqr.

Note 2: Is this building the property of the Burgh
In Newton Stewart a similar building is not
& Mr McH [McHaffie] ruled that it should therefore
be called Town House - He here writes
it so tho' [though] Corpl [Corporal] Rogers remark is perfectly
correct & in all the towns they say Town Hall.
