034 | [Situation] In the SW [South West] Side of the Parish of Whithorn. A Royal Burgh situated 11 miles S [South] of Wigtown 18 miles S [South] of Newton Stewart 32 ESE [East South East] of Stranraer 40 E [East] by S [South] of Port Patrick 97 S [South] of Glasgow & 113 3/4 S.W. [South West] of Edinburgh and about the centre of the Parish of Whithorn. It consists of a principal Street about three quarters of a mile in length and crossed near the middle by The Kitt there are Several public Pumps & a weighing Machine in the Street, and a few very brief and unimportant Alleys diverging on the E [East] side thro' [through] only one of which is a thoroughfare. The Main Street is very irregular and crooked having many abrupt turns (See next page) |
