034 [Situation] On the North Side of Castle Hill.
This appears to be the Site of an old Castle of which no vestige at present remains. Mr Hannay & Mr Hathorn of Whithorn pointed out the Site; the latter says he has ploughed up Stones & Lime mixed with the soil at this place, which Shows it to be the Site of Some building. The above named persons also says that it is a tradition in the neighbourhood that this place was the residence of the Bishops of Whithorn.
