034 [Situation] About one mile West of Whithorn.
A hill of slight elevation on the farm of Rispen on the Summit of which is the remains of a Roman Fort of large size in an excellent state of preservation the area has an elevation towards the West & the entrance appears to have been on the east side the ditch or fosse is about 20 feet deep and the embankments are also very complete, on the west side near the centre of the outside is a conspicuous stone Cairn of recent erection & is about 18 feet high
