031 [Situation] About 1 1/4 miles WSW [West South West] of Logan House.
A Cave at the Eastern end of a long gully or Creek. It derives its name from the water dropping from its roof out of round congealed lumps of a white substance resembling Paps & Tradition says that formerly the water of this Cave was used for the Curing of the Hooping Cough by holding the patients under the droplets or by giving them the water to drink. It is Called after the name St. Peter. - This place is described as a rock by Simpson in his account of Galloway 1684 & relates the Story about curing the chincough by catching the drop in the mouth as it falls from the rock.
